An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has deferred its ruling in a kidnapping for ransom case against Mohajir Qaumi Movement chief Afaq Ahmed to February 24.
An application was moved on behalf of Afaq Ahmed stating that due to the city conditions, he was not provided due security and it was not possible for him to appear in the court on Thursday.
He prayed the court to exempt him from appearance and for adjourning the proceedings. The court after allowing him exemption fixed February 24 for conducting the proceedings in the case.
Initially the case was heard by the ATC-II but it was transferred to the ATC-VII, headed by Akhlaq Ahmed Laarak, who after hearing the arguments had first reserved the verdict in November 2014 but due to one or another legal reasons, the ruling could not be announced in this case as yet.
Afaq Ahmed and others were alleged to have abducted and forced Jameel Ahmed Baloch to transfer the Baitul Hamza (MQM-H headquarters) land to the party.
