Four-year-old girl raped, killed in Harbanspura

LAHORE

A four-year-old girl was raped and killed in Rasheedpura, Harbanspura, on Saturday.  

She was allegedly kidnapped by Umar. The accused assaulted her and later killed. Locals of the area captured the accused and handed him over to police which reached the scene late as usual. Locals of the area also protested against the police.

Meanwhile, Zulfiqar of Fateh Garh had a scuffle with his neighbour Arif over a minor issue. Arif got furious and attacked Zulfiqar with a knife. As a result, he received injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died. Police after being informed reached the scene and arrested the accused person. A case has been registered.

taken away: Robbers deprived citizens of their valuables and vehicles worth millions of rupees here on Saturday.

Robbers looted valuables worth Rs 9.5 million from the house of one Tariq in the Naseerabad area, Rs 0.4 million from the shop of one Asghar in Ravi Road, Rs 72,000 from the family of one Nabi Ahmad in Defence C, Rs 81,000 from one Ahsan in Muslim Town and snatched cash and a bike from one Rafique in the Gujjarpura area.

Three cars were lifted from the areas of Gujjarpura, Naseerabad and Garden Town. Six bikes were stolen from the areas of Islampura, Misri Shah, Lower Mall, Akbari Gate, Sanda and Nawab Town. 

security: The main procession on Youm-e-Ali (RA) was taken out peacefully amid tight security on Saturday.

At least 7,000 police officials, 12 SPs, 34 DSPs and 80 SHOs performed security duties on the occasion. CCPO Amin Wains and DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf personally monitored and reviewed security arrangements. 

All the routes of the processions, including the main procession route, were screened thoroughly by sniffer dogs, Bomb Disposal Squad and experts of Special Branch. Main procession route was monitored through a control room established at DIG Operations Office and Punjab Safe City Authority through CCTV cameras installed on the route.

The area of 200 metre along main procession route was cordoned off by tents and barbed wires. The participants was allowed to join the procession after checking at four points. They were frisked, checked with metal detectors and scanned at walk-through gates. Men in civvies also performed duty to keep an eye on any suspicious person or activity. 

Snipers were also deployed on nearby rooftops to tackle any untoward incident and surveillance purposes. Teams of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and Quick Response Force kept on patrolling the nearby areas.

As far a traffic plan is concerned, over 1,000 male traffic wardens, 111 lady wardens under supervision of one SP, four DSPs, 42 inspectors performed duty on the route of the main procession to maintain flow of traffic. Traffic was diverted to alternative routes from 19 different points.

The vehicles of the participants were parked at seven different points; Nasser Bagh, Deputy Commissioner Office, Mochi Gate Bagh, Data Darbar Eye Hospital, Central Model High School, Bagh Ali and Adda Crown.

CCPO Amin Wains and DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf greeted the force for contributing to foolproof security at another main event in the city.

Training: Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer concluded the three-days long training course at Managers Training Centre. 

The course was organised by Rescue 1122 in order to strengthen the capacity of station coordinators from major districts of Punjab to enhance the incident command management skills. The course covered the topics, including incident command system and levels, incident risk philosophy and management, incident management strategies and tactics, simulation exercises and incident securing, debriefing and documentation followed by evaluation.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of the course, Rescue Punjab DG Dr Rizwan Naseer thanked master trainers especially and he appreciated Dr Foaad Shahzad Mirza, deputy director HR/MTC director and his team on holding the first successful Incident Command Management Course for middle managers of the Service. 

He announced that those rescuers who would give good performance on monthly basis and take sustainable measures for public safety, cash prizes will be awarded to them from the start of next month.
