‘Surprise raids on edible sellers during Eid holidays’
LAHORE
The Punjab government has chalked out a plan to conduct surprise raids on perishable sellers during the Eid holidays as the artificial price-hike reaches its peak during these days after the Ramazan.
For this, the price control committee, Lahore has devised a plan and issued instructions to the officials concerned. This was disclosed by the chairman price control committee, Lahore Mian Usman during his visit to Badami Bagh fruits and vegetables market here on Thursday.
During the visit, he also inspected fruits auction in the market besides imposing fine on four sellers on overcharging and ordered to register a case against one. He also paid a visit to whole market and issued instruction for immediate removal of rotten fruits and vegetables from the market.
He said the government has initiated substantial steps to control the overcharging and artificial price-hike by imposing fines and registering cases against the price violators. He said the government was not only supervising the auction of fruits and vegetables but also ensuring the sale of the perishable at official rates in open market. This strategy was bringing fruitful results, he claimed.
Search Operation: The capital city police officer (CCPOa0 directed the police to conduct search operation on the route of the central procession of Youm-e-Ali.
While addressing a meeting here on Thursday, he said that all security arrangements in connection with the Youm-e-Ali had been made.
The DIG Operations said that special commandos and snipers had been deployed on the roofs of sensitive buildings.
He said that at least 200 cameras of Safe City Authority would monitor the whole route of the procession.
