CHITRAL: Residents of Ashret village have appealed to the high-ups of the National Highways Authority (NHA) to compensate them for their land that was acquired for approach road of the Lowari Tunnel.
Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, Roedad Ahmed, Muhammad Alam and Ahmed Khan said that NHA had acquired their land for construction of the approach road of the Lowari Tunnel.
They said that the Revenue Department had declared the land a government property and deprived them of their rights. They said that several homes were also demolished for construction of the road, adding that the affectees had accepted the decision in the interest of the people of the district.However, they said, the people needed to be compensated to enable them to construct homes in other places.
