CDA chairman under pressure to lift ban on plots allotment
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz is under pressure to lift ban on allotment of plots to the affected people of different sectors as a move for this purpose has been initiated at behest some influential people.
The CDA sources told ‘The News’ that the CDA board meeting on Friday would take up a summary moved by Member Estate of the authority which seeks lifting of ban on allotment
of plots to the affected people.
The sources further said the summary is not on agenda of the board meeting but it would be taken up as an additional item. The sitting CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz had imposed ban on allotment of plots in Islamabad in May, last year in order to hold an inquiry into fake allotment of plots. The purpose behind imposition of ban was also to introduce a fair and transparent system for allotment of plots.
However, some politicians in Islamabad have been pressurising the CDA chairman to lift allotment of plots in the federal capital. An impression is also being given that the ruling PML-N would lose both the National Assembly seats in Islamabad if the authority does not lift the ban.
The sources said the objective behind attempts to lift the ban seems to be getting around 4,000 claims of plots in Kurri village cleared and to pave the way for further allotments of plots.
The sources said that the Security Directorate had reported allotment of 206 plots in different sectors which was made during the period of ban. The CDA chairman had ordered inquiry into allotment scam of Rs1 billion plots but the inquiry process was not completed due to some external pressure.
It has been learnt that some senior officials of Land and Estate wing were acting at behest of some influential people to start game of clearance of fake claims. The CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz when contacted said that summary relating to lifting of ban is not on written agenda of the board meeting. However, he said new SoPs for allotment of plots was in final stages and it would be okayed in a couple of days.
