VCs of LCWU, Sargodha varsity appointed

LAHORE

Punjab Higher Education Department Monday issued notifications vis-à-vis appointment of Vice Chancellors (VCs) of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and the University of Sargodha (UOS). 

Dr Uzma Quraishi has been appointed as LCWU Vice Chancellor while Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad as VC of University of Sargodha. The appointment of Dr Uzma Quraishi is subject to the final decision on the representation of Dr Rukhsana Kausar by the Chancellor.

The two VCs have been appointed for a term of four years. However, terms and conditions of their appointments would be notified separately by the department.

Hello Tomorrow Pakistan is the local hub of Hello Tomorrow to facilitate the conferences and events relevant to the vision of Hello Tomorrow. It has around 15 active hubs all over the world to gather the community of outstanding entrepreneurs and scientists to connect and promote entrepreneurship. Last year, Hello Tomorrow Pakistan conducted a successful conference in HEC with the support of French Embassy and notable partners.

The winner of the challenge will be sponsored to attend the Global Hello Tomorrow Summit in Paris in October to pitch in front of 300 international tech investors. The local challenge will act as a springboard for the local startups to get the access of the Global Support, including investor and mentor access by Hello Tomorrow.

The challenge would accept the startup applications from all over Pakistan working in the field of science, technology and social entrepreneurship. The closing date of the application is 10th of July 2017. Applications for the local challenge can be found at https://hello-tomorrow.org/challenge.

Ramazan Bazaars: Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sumair Ahmed Syed visited Shadman, Sabzazar, Raiwind, Tthokar Niaz Baig and Delhi Gate Ramazan Bazaars to review the arrangements on the second day of Ramazan. 

Officers of district administration and metropolitan corporation, Lahore were also along with him. The deputy commissioner checked rate lists of essential commodities, their quality and quantity on market committee stalls. 

He weighted the sugar packets and flour bags. Moreover, he asked the customers about facilities in bazaars and their environment. The DC had Aftari with general public on Madni Dastarkhan arranged by the district administration in Shadman mosque. 

He also visited fruit and vegetable market in Badami Bagh where he monitored the auction process of potatoes and checked the prices of vegetables and fruits being sold in the market. Market Committee Secretary Shahzad Ahmad Cheema accompanied him and briefed him about working of market committee.
