 Yaum-e-Takbeer observed across country

ISLAMABAD: Yaum-e-Takbeer was on Sunday observed across the country to commemorate the historic nuclear tests Pakistan conducted on May 28 in 1998.

Pakistan became seventh nuclear power with demonstration of nuclear capabilities and the first in the Muslim world. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country, supremacy of the Constitution and eradication of terrorism. Different organizations arranged functions to highlight the importance of the day.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in his message on Yaum-e-Takbeer, said the nation was showing unity to make Pakistan an Asian tiger in economic terms as it had shown unity in 1998 when the country carried out nuclear tests, making the national defence impregnable. He said May 28 was an unforgettable day in the history of Pakistan when the country appeared as an atomic power on the global map.
