Adeel helps Dubai Hawks devour KPT

KARACHI: Adeel Khan of Dubai Hawks blasted an unbeaten century on the opening day of the 32nd edition of the Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Festival Twenty20 helping his team overwhelm Karachi Port Trust (KPT) by seven wickets in their Group A encounter here at the Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground on Sunday.

In another match, Opera Cricket Club defeated Heroes Cricket Club Quetta by six wickets in Group D.

Batting first after winning the toss, KPT made 147 for six against Dubai Hawks with Nadeem Javed (64 off 41 balls), Ahmed Iqbal (34 off 26 balls) and Babar Rahman (28 off 12 balls) being the leading scorers. The bowling honours were shared between the left-arm spinning duo of Daniyal Liaquat (3-34) and Mohammad Salman (2-32).

Dubai Hawks raced to the target in just 15.2 overs with opening batsman Adeel Khan, adjudged Man of the Match, whacking nine sixes and 11 fours in his unbeaten 111 off just 49 balls.

Heroes CC had been reduced to 49 for six by Opera CC but they recovered to post a fighting total of 154 for seven in 20 overs. Wasim Qureshi struck four sixes and three fours in his unbeaten 56 off 34 balls, adding 62 for the seventh wicket with Usman Khan, who made 28 off 33 balls.

Left-arm spinner Rizwan Qureshi (3-22) was the pick of the Opera CC bowlers.

Opera CC chased down the target with a couple of overs to spare thanks to Usman Khan (48 off 37 balls), Mohammad Zohaib (30 off 19 balls) and Rizwan Qureshi (28 off 31 balls). Rizwan Qureshi of Opera CC was declared Man of the Match.
