KARACHI: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has claimed that Shaharyar Khan was only a dummy and the decisions were actually being made by Najam Sethi.
“Shaharyar Khan doesn’t have any authority in the board,” Zaka claimed while talking to a local news channel. “It is Najam Sethi who is calling the shots. He doesn’t have any background of management and therefore taking unprofessional decisions,” he alleged.
Zaka said that it was very disappointing that Pakistan cricket team was engulfed in a controversy when World Cup 2015 was about to begin. “The players who are going to represent Pakistan in World Cup should have been given central contracts for a complete year rather than a three-month contract. By doing so, PCB has made players’ future uncertain which was the reason they refused to accept the contracts,” he said.
He added that the issue should be solved quickly so that players could focus on their World Cup preparations. “If a player is not assured about his future, how can he perform well in a big event like World Cup? It is a simple case of mismanagement and lack of foresightedness,” he explained.
