50-year-old cop dies in road crash

A policeman was crushed to death by a fast moving four-wheeler near the Government Degree School in Korangi No 5 on Thursday when he was on way back home after performing his night duty.

Awami Colony SHO Ghulam Rasool Arbab said 50-year-old Gul Khan, son of Mian Khan, died after his motorbike was struck by a vehicle, whose details are yet to be known.

The SHO said the police officer, who was deployed at the Shershah police station, died on the spot.

The deceased was residents of the Ibrahim Haidri area and his body had been handed over to his family for burial, he added. 

On Monday, three policemen were injured in a road accident on Sharea Faisal. Officials said a police mobile part of President Mamnoon Hussain’s security convoy overturned on Sharea Faisal near the Corps Headquarters.  As a result, three policemen – Yousuf, Liaquat and Imran – sustained injuries. All three were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment where their condition was said to have stabilised.
