PESHAWAR: The owners of private educational institutions have asked the provincial government to exempt them from complying with the labour laws.
They made the demand at a joint news conference addressed by All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) and Private Educational Institutions Management Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Monday.
Presidents and general secretaries of various private schools associations including, Shabbir Ahmad, Dr Zakir Shah, Abdul Aziz Khan, Sheikh Ashraf Raja, Dr Babar, Syed Mohammad Hanif Khwendani, Chaudhry Iqbal and Nazar Hussain were present at the press conference.
Nazar Hussain claimed labour laws were not applicable to private educational institutions in light of Supreme Court verdict. He claimed there was no justification for applying labour laws to private educational institutions. “All private educational institutions in the country should be run as per Education Foundation Act,” Nazar Hussain said.
APPSA president suggested the constitution of reforms screening committee, comprising of members from government and private schools associations to bring transparency and accountability in the existing examination system.
