ISLAMABAD: Elections for the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (APNEC) will be held today (Wednesday).
The decision was taken on the first day of the convention of newspapers’ employees. Union leaders of newspapers employees and journalists from all over the country have arrived in the federal capital for this purpose.
Unionists and workers on the first day of their convention on Tuesday expressed severe concern over the delay in the elections of Federal Executive Committee (FEC), terming it big negligence and decided that election of a new National Executive Committee should be held forthwith.
A four-member committee, headed by Senator Talha, was constituted which will conduct and supervise the elections process. All the decisions were made with full unanimity. The convention will conclude on Thursday. Union leaders including President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Rana Azim, Secretary General GM Jamali, candidate for chairman APNEC Syed Ikram Bukhari and other unionists spoke on the occasion.
