50 hospitalised in Oghi after consuming contaminated water
MANSEHRA: Over 50 persons, including women and children, were rushed to hospitals after they consumed contaminated water of a fountain in Oghi on Thursday, official said.
“Scores of residents of Shamdarah village suffered from stomach pain and were rushed to health facilities after they consumed contaminated water,” Shimraz Khan, deputy superintendent of Police Oghi, told reporters on Friday. The villagers complained of stomach pain with high fever were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Oghi and then referred to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra.
“Up to 20 patients were shifted to hospital in Mansehra after administered a preliminary treatment,” a doctor told reporters at the Civil Hospital in Oghi. According to doctor’s condition of five patients was critical.
DSP Shimraz Khan said the police party reached the village after the report of the incident and found a dead fox in the fountain, which had apparently contaminated the water. He said sample of water had been sent to the laboratory.
