Karachi Blues, Whites in U19 final

KARACHI: Karachi Blues set date with Karachi Whites in the final of the Inter-Region Under-19 One-day Cricket tournament when they overwhelmed Sialkot by seven wickets in the second semi-final at the Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

Leggie Kahaf Patel captured 6-26 to enable Karachi Blues to dismiss Sialkot for only 119 in the 27th over of the 50 overs game.

Ashir Mehmood struck 37, while Abdullah Shafiq belted 35.

Karachi Blues achieved the target in the 38th over after losing three wickets.

Haider Ali smashed fine 69 not out, hitting nine fours and one six. He faced 115 deliveries.

Momin Waqar captured 2-21.

Tariq Rasheed and Farooq Ali Khan supervised the match, Waleed Yaqoob was the television umpire and Kamran Chaudhry the match referee.

In the first semi-final, on Wednesday, Karachi Whites had defeated Lahore Blues by six runs.

The final will be held at the same venue on Saturday (tomorrow).

Aftab Gillani and Nasir Hussain will supervise the decider. Zameer Haider will be the television umpire. Mir Dad will be the reserve umpire and Tanvir Afzal the match referee.

The winners will get a purse of Rs200,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs100,000.

Besides, Rs25,000 each will be given to the best batsman, the best all-rounder, the best bowler and the man of the final.
