A woman received burns when her mother-in-law threw kerosene oil at her and set her alight in Musti Gate area on Sunday.
Victim Shama Bibi, wife of Akram, of Musti Gate was issueless for a long time. She was often taunted by her mother-in-law Nasreen Bibi in this regard. On the day of incident, Shama was cooking food when Nasreen threw kerosene on her and set her on fire. As a result she received critical burn injuries. She was shifted to hospital where her condition was said to be critical.
512 booked: Lahore police has arrested 127 accused in 512 cases on charges of graffiti, misuse of loud speakers and publication of hate literature.
Police in a cleanup operation under National Action Plan seized 137 loudspeakers, amplifiers, books, pamphlets and CDs containing hate literature from the detained accused. DIG (operations) Dr Haider Ashraf warned strict action against violators of the National Action Plan. He directed action against sellers of hate material and CDs. He directed all police officers to seek an undertaking from administrations of mosques and Imambargahs for not delivering provocative speeches.
Search operation: The Lahore police carried out search operation across the provincial metropolis to round up suspects. At least 4,826 people were checked during the last two days of the search operation and eight suspects were detained as they could not produce their identity.
Similarly, police took action against 46 people under Section 55/109. Police also checked some 389 tenants and arrested one person.
