Three shopkeepers were killed in separate incidents in the city on Saturday night of which investigators believed that two were targeted on sectarian grounds
Armed men on a motorcycle first shot dead 35-years old Shabab Hussain when he was present at his auto spare parts shop in Korangi, the Zaman Town police said.
SHO Shaukat Awan of Zaman Town police station said the deceased was present at shop when armed men entered the shop, shot him multiple times and fled.
The deceased was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where the doctors pronounced him dead.
A few minutes later, armed men riding a motorbike shot a Pan shop owner near the Fish Market in Korangi 100-quarters, killing him on the spot.
The deceased was identified as 50-years old Syed Wazir Hussain, a resident of Korangi 100-quarters.
The body was shifted to the JPMC.
SHO Shaukat Awan said initial investigation revealed that probably a same group of target killers was involved in both the activities happening within a span of 10 minutes.
He informed the media that both the deceased belonged to Shia community and suspected that they were targeted on sectarian grounds.
Another trader killed
Muhammad Salim, a resident of Moosa Nagar and aged around 45, was sitting at his shop near the Khilafat Chowk in Paposh Nagar when two armed men entered the shop, fired at him and fled on their motorcycle.
Salim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition where he expired during the treatment, Paposh Nagar police officials and doctors said.
A police official said they were ascertaining the motive behind killing but added that apparently it was an act of target killing.
A day earlier, a car dealer was killed on Kashmir Road.
Faheem Anwar Siddiqui, 36, was returning home from his showroom in a taxi when armed men shot him multiple times.
Jamshed Quarters police said the man suffered three bullet wounds and was rushed to Jinnah hospital, where he passed away.
SHO Khushnood Javed said Siddiqui lived in Gulberg, Federal B Area, and had been carrying a large amount of money when he was killed.
He suspected the car dealer might have been killed upon putting up resistance to an armed robbery.
Separately, the body of a man in his 30s was found from Haroonabad.
The unidentified victim had been cut in several parts of his body with a sharp object before being shot thrice in the head and chest, said Manghopir police.
On Thursday, three people, including an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), were killed in the city.
Thirty-five-year-old Abid Shamim alias Lamba was riding his motorbike when unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him multiple times near Mohajir Chowk in Orangi Town.
