NAWABSHAH: Ghulam Mustafa Phull has taken over the charge of Shaheed Benazirabad Commissioner after 18 months. In this period, Naushehro Feroze’s Deputy Commissioner Dr Waseem Shamshad was officiating as the commissioner.

The Shaheed Benazirabad division comprises Nawabshah, Sanghar and Naushehro Feroze districts. This division was created in the ending days of the tenure of Asif Ali Zardari. Jamal Mustafa Syed was posted as the first commissioner of this division.

Jamal Syed approved the construction of Commissioner Secretariat at the Truck Terminal plot in his tenure that was strictly opposed by the public and the restoration of terminal was demanded. Later, Shakeel Mangnejo was posted as the commissioner of this division. The position is now taken over by Ghulam Mustafa Phull.

However, the posts of Additional Commissioner-II, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Assistant Commissioner General are still lying vacant. In the wake of vacant posts, hundreds of issues of the general public pertaining to land and other relevant issues were pending in all the three districts.

On the other hand, mega projects like the restoration of the Special Industrial Zone, 300-bed Mother and Child Hospital, Kidney Transplant Centre and Nawabshah-Saeedabad Bypass are still lying in cold storage.  Public has demanded and appealed PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, MNA Faryal Talpur and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to fill the vacant posts in order to provide relief to the general public.
