Hafiz Saeed’s detention extended
LAHORE: Following directions of the federal government, the Punjab government has extended the detention of Jamaat-ud-Dawa Ameer Prof Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and four others for another 90 days on Monday.
Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, Abdullah Ubaid, Zafar iqbal, Abdur Rehman Abid and Kashif Niazi were detained under 16 MPO on January 30. The provincial government had declared Hafiz Saeed’s Jauhar Town residence as sub-jail.
According to Home Department sources the earlier detention order had expired on April 30. After consulting with the federal government, the provincial government has issued a fresh detention order for 90 days. Hafiz Saeed has been detained in his residence which already has been declared as sub-jail.
The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification and a copy of the notification has been sent to departments concerned including police and other law enforcement agencies.
