KP CM says 82 MoUs for projects unprecedented in KP’s history
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Sunday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government had signed 82 memorandum of understanding (MoUs) for the development of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, which had no precedence in the history of the province.
"Agreements have been signed with the Chinese investors worth 23.5 billion dollars. A large industrial estate will be set up on 90 acres of land with the support of Malaysia, which will have halal food, medicine and cosmetics factories," said the chief minister while elaborating on his statement.
The chief minister said the MoU had been inked in China recently during the "Beijing Road Show" for 82 projects. He said the projects would include hydel power stations, Hattar and Rashakai Industrial estates, Fast Railway Track, Expressway, etc.
The chief minister said agreements would be signed for four mega projects with the Frontier Works Organisation next week. These would include a 600 megawatt power production scheme, oil refinery, cement plant and two big housing societies. Pervez Khattak said the natural resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had acquired added importance in the light of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
"This province has become a hub for investment after the CPEC cluster of projects. The investors from various parts of the world are turning to KP now," he said. The chief minister said the industrial development would lead to economic stability and that would ultimately put an end to unemployment. "We have laid the foundation for developed and prosperous future," he said with assertion.
Pervez Khattak said the PTI-led government had introduced reforms to improve governance in the province. "You can feel improvement in the education, health, police and other departments which has been made possible in the last four years of the PTI rule," said the chief minister.
Earlier, Pervez Khattak went to Mohallah Parachgaan in Nowshera Kalaan to offer fateha for the departed soul of mother-in-law of Nowshera Press Club President, Mushtaq Paracha, and mother of Naeem Jan of the Education Department and Daud Jan of Forest Department.
