Jhagra opens ‘2nd Fata Youth Festival’

JAMRUD: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra inaugurated the Governor’s 2nd Fata Youth Festival at Jamrud in Khyber Agency on Friday.

Parliamentarians from Fata Nasir Khan Afridi and Haji Shahji Gul, officials of the Fata Secretariat and tribesmen were present on the occasion. 

The festival being attended by 1,894 players in 30 games from all over Fata will conclude on May 1.Speaking on the occasion, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said the government was interested in promotion of sports. 

He added sports stadiums were being constructed in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency as well as North and South Waziristan agencies. 

He also approved installing flood lights at the Jamrud Sports Complex.

Highlighting the importance of the festival, the governor said the mega event had been arranged for the first time in the history of Fata.  He remarked that youth should be able to avail the opportunities and develop their capabilities to project the soft image of the country.Referring to the situation in Fata, he said that only 90 percent of internally displaced persons had been returned to their hometowns.
