MANSEHRA: In an apparent honour-related incident, two brothers were gunned down in Mahandri Manoor area of Kaghan valley on Saturday.

The sources said that Abdur Rehman and his brother Mohammad Asif were on their way home from a nearby village when a group of five men intercepted them and sprayed them with bullets and fled the scene.

They said Mohammad Riasat, the younger brother of the deceased, had married a local girl without the consent of her parents some two months ago and her family was annoyed over it.

The bodies were taken to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital for autopsy where relatives and family members of slain raised slogans and demanded immediate arrest of killers.

District Nazim Sardar Said Ghulam, who was present at hospital, told reporters that it was a gruesome murder saying that both victims were innocent.

“The incident of honour-related killings is on the rise and police should immediately arrest the killers,” he added.

Tariq Khan, the SHO of Kaghan Police Station, said that the police had arrested Ali Bahadar, Shahjehan, Ghulam Hussain and Resham, all brothers, and one Siraj stated to be their relative in a raid at Rehtray Manoor village. He said that the arrested persons have also confessed to have committed the crime saying Mohammad Riasat and his family members had disgraced them.
