LAHORE
A cheque for Rs 500,000 has been issued for an injured constable on the directions of the IGP Punjab.
Constable Saifullah suffered injuries in an encounter with two dacoits at Okara on February 15, 2009. He shot dead the dacoits.
The cop was granted Rs 300,000 via cheque No 0003541 as compensation allowance on February 9, 2010 and Rs 153,264 as welfare allowance via cheque No 2164714 by the Punjab government on the recommendations of Welfare Committee of Police Department.
In 2014, the cop lodged an application for financial aid for his kidney operation. The Welfare Committee of Punjab Police presented his recommendations to IGP on January 13. The IGP approved his application for financial assistance on January 20, 2015 and Punjab Police Department has issued a cheque No. 58192086 for Rs 500,000 for him.
On the occasion, the IGP said Police Department never ignored bravery and courage of its officials. The officials who suffered injuries on duty are paid financial aid according to Police Rules, he added.
