Appreciates readiness and high state of morale of troops; addresses officers in Gujranwala and Pasrur

RAWALPINDI: The fight against terrorism continues and with the support of the nation we will Insha Allah cleanse our motherland of Fasaadis of all hue and colour, said Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday.

Gen Bajwa visited the Gujranwala Garrison where he was given a detailed briefing on the operational preparedness of the Gujranwala Corps, progress on Operation Raddul Fasaad and the census.

The COAS also addressed the officers of Gujranwala Garrison, an Inter Services Public Relations press release issued here said. Later, he visited the Pasrur Cantonment and interacted with officers and men.

Gen Bajwa appreciated the state of readiness and high state of morale of the troops. Earlier on arrival, the COAS was received by Lieutenant General Ikramul Haque, Corps Commander, Gujranwala.

The countrywide Operation Raddul Fasaad was launched on February 22 this year. Raddul Fasaad aims at indiscriminately eliminating the "residual/latent threat of terrorism", consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security of Pakistan's borders.

Raddul Fasaad — which translates roughly to 'elimination of discord' — will aim at indiscriminately eliminating the "residual/latent threat of terrorism", consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security of Pakistan's borders, read the statement.

Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Civil Armed Forces (CAF) and other security and law enforcing agencies (LEAs) will actively participate in and 'intimately support' the efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country, the statement added. Countrywide de-weaponisation and explosive control are additional cardinals of the operation.
