JUI-F candidate elected Judbah tehsil nazim unopposed

MANSEHRA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) contender, Mohammad Khan, was elected nazim of Judbah tehsil unopposed as the Awami National Party (ANP) failed to field a unanimous candidate for the slot due to differences in the party.

Three councillors of ANP, including Asghar Khan, Sabir Shah and Ziaur Rehman, were interested in facing JUI-F contender Mohammad Khan in the election for the slot of tehsil nazim but none of them could file nomination papers because of differences.

Sources said the three councillors couldn’t develop consensus to name a contender and decided not to field any party candidate and remained off the session.They said the situation provided a walkover to Mohammad Khan and he was elected tehsil nazim unopposed.

Assistant Commissioner of Kundar Hassanzai Umer Arshad, who was also presiding officer for election, announced success of Mohammad Khan. The office of tehsil nazim had fallen vacant after JUI-F’s Abdul Qadir’s resignation as nazim to help Mohammad Khan to succeed him for another one year term in light of an agreement reached among party councillors at the time of installation of tehsil government.
