Main accused in Mashal lynching case arrested
MARDAN: Mardan Police claimed on Thursday that the main accused in the lynching case of student Mashal Khan had been arrested.
Speaking at a news conference, Regional Police Officer (RPO) for Mardan Alam Khan Shinwari said the police had managed to apprehend the accused who had fired at Mashal Khan.
He explained that the accused Imran was a student of Journalism Department of the Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan. The RPO said Imran fired twice at Mashal Khan that led to his death.
However, he added that the police had recovered three shells from the crime scene. He claimed that Imran had confessed to his crime. Alam Shinwari informed the media that the police had arrested 41 suspects in the lynching case so far.
He said six of the accused had confessed to their crime. The official added that those found innocent were released after investigation.
