ISLAMABAD: While enhancing its nuclear programme to space dimensions, India has brought about major shift in its latest war-fighting doctrine that flags the need for military exploration of the space besides raising specialised troops to operate in a nuclear environment.
Indian media has referred to its Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba, who is also chairman of the chief of staff committee (CCSC), on Tuesday released the doctrine and emphasised on joint planning and conduct of operations across all the domains of conflict that is land, air, sea, space and cyberspace.
Currently, Indian space programme is guided by the developmental, commercial and scientific needs. Top commanders from the integrated defence staff now underscored the need to explore the space military as well; Indian defence ministry sources told the media. This comes almost 10 years after China shook the world with its A-SAT test in which the emerging super power fired a missile to destroy a junk satellite.
