MPs body on electoral reforms decides about voters’ ratio

ISLAMABAD: The Sub-committee of the Parliamentary
Committee on Electoral Reforms on Tuesday decided to keep the ratio of voters of the constituency not more than 10 percent in comparison with the other constituency.

The Sub-committee held its meeting with the chair
of its Chairman Law Minister Zahid Hamid here on
Tuesday.

The Sub-committee decided to keep the current procedure of registration of voters.

Talking to the newsmen after the meeting, Chairman Sub-committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms and Law
Minister Zahid Hamid said the current procedure of the voters registration was kept as according to Election Commission of Pakistan that the votes of many voters were registered either on their permanent address or on temporary address or even on other than permanent and temporary address.

“And if the procedure of voters registrations were revised then new voters lists was to be prepared which would be difficult task,” he added.

The Law Minister said therefore it was decided to continue with the current voter’s registration procedure.

In a response to a question, he said the Sub-committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms completed the process of examining the elections rule on Wednesday.
