Sugarcane juice most favourite soft drink of public

Islamabad: There is no shortage of soft drinks in the markets but the most of the people still feel attraction towards the sugarcane juice that is now available at all prominent places especially bus stops in the twin cities.

"I think the sugarcane juice is one of the most popular delights of the summer season and people who visit markets and bazaars like to enjoy it to beat the heat," said Nauroze Khan, a vendor at G-9 Markaz.

He said the Potohar region is not among the areas where sugarcane is cultivated and it is mostly brought from Interior Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa but the sugarcane juice is very popular in this part of the country.  The crushed sugarcane is not thrown away, but instead sold to factories that make paper and chipboards at various rates per ton, he said.

Sadiq Malik, a visitor at Super Market, said “The stall selling the sugarcane juice at the bus stop here in the market is a popular destination of shoppers and commuters in the summer season. Whenever I visit this market in summer I prefer to have sugarcane juice instead of consuming any other artificial cold drink."

Dr. Amir Safdar, said the sugarcane juice is packed with alphahydroxy acid and glycoli acid that helps in reducing acne, blemishes and keeps the skin hydrated. He said it is good to have the sugarcane juice in summer but the people should take extreme care while visiting the temporary stalls because unhygienic stuff may cause health problems for them.
