Family physicians urged to play role against dengue
LAHORE
To prevent dengue, the government is taking measure. The Punjab Health Care Commission is providing training to doctors. Awareness is being created at massive level.
These views were expressed by the speakers at a seminar on “Treatment of Dengue on latest lines” jointly organised by Punjab Health Care Commission (PHCC) and Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Memorial Society (Jang Group of Newspapers).
Chief Operating Officer, Punjab Health Care Commission, Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, advised the family physicians to play their effective role against dengue. He said the commission has taken action against 5,000 quakes. Around 34,000 venues of treatment have been registered, he said. Approximately 19,000 were issued licences, he added.
Head of PIMS and VC of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University Dr Javed Akram said doctors, nurses and paramedics should be given special training against dengue. He said 23 ministers of health have been kicked out from their ministries around the world.
The chief minister is working against dengue. The disease is 2000-year old. The disease is found in 135 countries, he said and added it was a challenge for Pakistan. Bilal Ahmad Butt, Multan Commissioner, said the government is working on it seriously. Dengue will be defeated at every cost, he said.
Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chattha said the situation of dengue is not dangerous in Multan compare to Lahore. The administration of Multan was ready to defeat dengue, he said. Senior Editor, Health, Education and Current Affairs Wasif Nagi elaborated Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Memorial Society will play its role against dengue. MKRMS will continue to create awareness among people, he added. Poet and columnist Khalid Masood appreciated the administration of Multan. Dr Ata-ur-Rehman, Punjab Health Care Commission, Dr Mushtaq Ahamd Sulehria and Professor Ghulam Mustafa were present.
