The second phase of the polio immunisation drive in Karachi would commence on Friday (today) in districts Central and South, announced officials of the Expanded Program on Immunisation (EPI) Sindh on Thursday.
EPI Sindh Deputy Program Manager Dr Durre Naz Jamal said that an approximate number of 635,375 children would be covered in the current phase. She further added that adequate security arrangements had been made for the vaccinators.
The second phase of the vaccination drive would start after 1.5 million children in districts East, West and Malir were administered polio drops, claimed EPI Sindh officials. They also added that 11 most sensitive Union Councils (UCs) of the city would also be covered after the two districts were completed.
