ACCA President, Brian McEnery was hosted by The Millennium University College (TMUC)’s Chief Executive, Faisal Mushtaq in a panel discussion on Drivers of Change Future Skills at TMUC, H-11/4, on Friday, says a press release.
The State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman was the guest of honour at the seminar. Academics, Industry professionals, ACCA stakeholders and members participated in the discussion.
Moderated by Ayla Majid, the first ever Pakistani serving on the international council of ACCA, the panellists included Amna Tahir, head of Internal Audit Telenor, Salman Amin, executive director Tariff Nepra, Aftab Ahmad, deputy chief and senior policy advisor, USAID's Financial Market Development Project, Faisal Mushtaq, chief executive of TMUC/RMS and Sajeed Aslam Head of ACCA Pakistan.
The purpose of the discussion was to generate a dialogue on the factors identified by a report published by ACCA on the drivers of change and future skills. The discussion revolved around the technical, ethical and interpersonal skills and competencies that professional accountants will need to have in the future.
Speaking at the occasion Brian McEnery stated “The global economy is fast changing. It is a world in which the accountancy profession needs to ensure that its members have the knowledge, skills and abilities to help organizations sustain economic growth and compete nationally and internationally. Pakistan, as an economy is progressive and vibrant and I am glad to see that ACCA as a global accountancy body is shaping the profession in the country.”
Chief Executive Faisal Mushtaq, while sharing his personal journey as a finance professional, requested the government to “promote transnational education especially professional qualifications such as ACCA which have core values aligned to the needs of employers in all sectors.”
Reiterating the need for professionals in the job market Baligh ur Rehman pledged that the government will invest in finance sector to create more employment opportunities especially in the field of accountancy.
TMUC is the largest provider of transnational education in Pakistan committed to developing the right set of skills, attitudes, knowledge and values within graduating Millennials so that they can confidently meet the global challenges of the 21st century.
