ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Executive Director (Oil) Zain-ul-Abideen Qureshi has said that two key posts in Ogra are non-functional at the moment because Member Oil got retired in July last year and the Member Finance was not performing his duties due to some technical issues. “In absence of two key officials, the Ogra chairman is not able to take important decisions and in some cases quota must be fulfilled in the meeting before making policies on some specific issue,” he said.
To a question, he said: “I cannot comment over the statements of the government officials who are holding Ogra responsible for the petrol crisis. The prime minister is taking care of the issue and he is in a better position to identify the elements allegedly involved in shortage of petrol in the country.”
Replying to another question, he said summary for appointment of Member Oil and Member Finance was sent to the concerned authorities, adding: “I have no idea when appointments would be made on these key posts that is necessary to ensure proper functioning of Ogra.”
