Ghani Glass complete PT semi-finals line-up

KARACHI: Ghani Glass recorded their third win to qualify for the semi-finals when they defeated Railways by 41 runs in their Group D fifth match of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II at Railways Stadium Lahore on Thursday.

Set a target of 166, Railways were skittled out for 124 with Farhan Nazar scoring 37 which had two fours. Hasnain Bukhari was the main destroyer as he captured 5-27. Mohammad Omar claimed 4-56.

Ghani Glass, who had a 35-run lead, resumed their second innings at 126-9 and were folded for 130.

Ghani Glass scored 189 in their first innings. In response, Railways made 154.

With this win, Ghani Glass finished at the top of their group with 28 points.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and Pakistan Television (PTV) had already qualified for the semi-finals.

The match between Omar Associates and Brighto Paints ended in a draw with the latter taking three points due to first innings lead. Omar Associates, who had conceded a 123-run lead, resumed their second innings at 20 without loss and piled up 376-1 with Danish Aziz blasting unbeaten 220. Danish cracked 32 fours and two sixes in his 293-ball knock.

Mohtashim Ali made 134. He hit 18 fours and one six in his 226-ball knock.

Omar Associates posted 315 in their first innings. In response, Brighto Paints amassed 438 all out.

In a Group D show, at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, K-Electric crushed NADRA by an innings and 180 runs.

NADRA, who had conceded a huge lead of 375, perished for 195 in their second innings.

Sadullah Zafar scored 70 which came off 130 balls and had 13 fours. Mohammad Nadeem cracked 44 with seven fours and one six. Left-arm spinner Hassan Khan got 4-33, for a match-tally of 7-56.

Waqar Anwar captured 3-61.

NADRA posted 149 in their first innings. In response, K-Electric posted 524 all out.

At Sports Stadium, Sargodha, Port Qasim Authority (PQA) crushed Higher Education Commission (HEC) by nine wickets.

PQA raced to the 91-run target in the eighth over after losing one wicket. Test discard Khurram Manzoor hit unbeaten 55 off just 28 balls, striking one six and ten glorious fours.

HEC, who had conceded a 100 runs lead, resumed their second innings at 29-1 and perished for 190 with Shiraz Hussain scoring 48. Ahmed Bin Nasir made 44 and Asfand Mehran struck 40 with five fours.

Aarish Ali Khan picked 5-48, while Test discard Mohammad Talha captured 2-37.

HEC made 392-7 in their first innings. In response, PQA staged 492-8.

The game between POL and Imex ended in a draw with the latter taking three points due to their first innings lead.

POL made 190 and 448-5. Imex posted 490-5 in their first innings.

Here at UBL Sports Complex, Candyland overwhelmed Pak Saudi by 189 runs. Candyland scored 337 and 134. Pak Saudi made 190 and 92 all with Ashiq Ali and Ata-ur-Rehman taking five wickets each for Candyland.

Here at NBP Sports Complex the outing between Haideri Traders and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) also did not yield any result with the latter taking three points.

Haideri Traders scored 275 and 327-6. CAA piled up 382 all out in their first innings.

Here at SBP Ground, the game between SBP and KPT ended in a draw with the former gaining three points. SBP scored 370-5 and 248-5. KPT accumulated 237-7 in their first innings.

At Pindi Stadium, the outing between ZTBL and CDA also ended in a stalemate with the latter taking three points due to first innings lead.

ZTBL scored 240 and 255-6. CDA made 346-7 in their first innings.
