MANSEHRA: The by-election on the provincial assembly seat PK-54, Mansehra, would be held on May 10.
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) had nullified the degree of Mian Ziaur Rehman of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, disqualifying him for the seat, PK-54, which comprised of Balakot tehsil in Mansehra district.
The ex-MPA challenged his disqualification by the PHC in the Supreme Court last week. According to a circular issued by the Election Commission, the by-election was being held in the constituency in light of the court judgment, which de-seated the MPA on March 14.
According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission, the contenders could submit nomination papers with the returning officer from April 8 to 10. Returning officer would scrutinise nomination papers from April 11 to 13. And the contenders could file appeals against the rejection of nomination papers on April 15. The Election Tribunal could decide appeals by April 17 and contenders could withdraw nomination papers by April 18.
