MoU to be signed with Chinese company: CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Wednesday the provincial government would sign on March 31 a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SINO Hydro Company of China on two combined hydropower projects for the production of 610 megawatt of electricity.

He disclosed different hydro power undertakings would be put on ground during his tenure in office. These projects, he assured, would enter the implementation phase shortly and after completion, these projects would produce 4,000 megawatt of electricity.

He was presiding over a high level meeting at the Chief Minister’s House. Minister for Education and Energy Muhammad Atif Khan, administrative secretaries and other high ranking officials attended the meeting.

The participants of the meeting had a detailed discussion on different projects, the provincial government was executing in the foreseeable future. The chief minister said different clusters of 100 projects in various departments had been finalised as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and non-CPEC projects for onward marketing at the Beijing Road Show.

Regarding the PPPs, the chief minister argued, his government had eased different complications in the PPPs. Of the standard guidelines of the MoUs for the projects of different departments, the chief minister remarked his government wanted the movement of the Frontier Works Organisation on different projects at a fast track as assured by the FWO.
