Three ‘MQM-L criminals’ among nine arrested
Paramilitary soldiers arrested nine suspected criminals, including target killers and extortionists, in raids conducted in various parts of the city on Friday.
The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said personnel conducted raids in Baldia and Sir Syed Town areas and, after overcoming resistance, arrested three men identified as Faraz Tariq, Mohammad Sajjad and Syed Kamran Ali Bukhari.
During the initial interrogation, the suspects were found to be associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM) and involved in facilitating the party in generating money through extortion and impersonating intelligence agency and Rangers officials.
Rangers’ troops carried out a swoop in the Al-Falah area and caught three robbers identified as Taimur, Yousuf and Zubair.
The three were allegedly involved in a number of robberies.
In a raid carried out in the Sohrab Goth area, Shamsher Mallah, a notorious drug peddler, was apprehended and a huge cache of narcotics was seized from his den.
In an intelligence-based raid in the Kandhkot area, paramilitary soldiers took into custody two Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan.
The men were named as Shamsur Rehman and Ghulam Haider alias Gul Khan.
Shamsur Rehman was living in Pakistan illegally, and Gul Khan was involved in criminal activities and wanted by police in 14 murder cases.
