Restrictions, arrests can’t deter Kashmiris from celebrating Pakistan Day
ISLAMABAD: Despite restrictions, arrests and other atrocities by the Indian forces, Pakistani flags were hoisted at many places in Srinagar, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and other areas to celebrate the Pakistan Day on Thursday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, special prayers for security, stability and prosperity of Pakistan were also offered on the occasion. The participants of a gathering arranged by Dukhtaran-e-Millat in Srinagar marked the Pakistan Day by singing Pakistan’s national anthem. They also waved Pakistani flag on the occasion.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani in a statement while greeting Pakistani people and the government said, “Pakistan is the centre of hope for the whole Muslim Ummah.
He thanked Pakistan for openly supporting Kashmiris’ struggle for the right to self-determination and helped them on political, diplomatic and moral levels.
Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Farida Bahenji, Advocate Devinder Singh and Muhammad Ramzan Khan and others in their separate statements also felicitated the Pakistani people on the occasion of their Pakistan Day.
Meanwhile, the people staged forceful demonstrations in Soura area of Srinagar against nocturnal raids by Indian police. The police and paramilitary personnel fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters.
