Says development projects unprecedented

LAHORE

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique Tuesday called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan is marching towards its actual destination. 

He said CPEC has laid a strong foundation of lasting development in Pakistan. He said development projects of Pakistan Muslim League-N government are unprecedented with regard to transparency, standard and speed and no opponent can raise a finger on transparency of the projects. Some political elements hatching conspiracies against progress of the country and prosperity of people have become isolated, he added. 

Shahbaz Sharif said conscious people have rejected the negative politics of defeatist elements. He said people of Pakistan want only development and prosperity of the country. He said promises made with the masses will be honoured and no one will be allowed to create hurdles in the way of public service.

cornea donors: Shahbaz Sharif has said gift of cornea by the Sri Lankan delegation for the blind is a blessing and gift of cornea for the distressed humanity is praiseworthy and exceptional measure and that everyone should work for the betterment of humanity with same zeal and determination. 

A delegation of Sri Lankan donors who donated 10 corneas for blinds in Punjab called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. President Sri Lanka-Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association Iftikhar Aziz, President Pakistan Sri Lanka Friendship and Investment Association Sardar Raes Munir Ahmed, Secretary Pakistan and Sri Lanka Association Raes Nabeel and other office-bearers were included in the delegation.

Four blind people who got sighting ability after receiving cornea gifts, Muhammad Arsalan from Sahiwal, Nasir Ali from Sheikhupura, Abdul Hameed from Rahimyar Khan and Waseem from Sialkot called on the chief minister. Doctors of Mayo Hospital Asma, Rafique Ghafar and Waqas Zaman who implanted cornea were present. The Sri Lankan delegation promised to donate 10 more corneas. Thanking the Sri Lankan delegation, the CM said: “We should work for the betterment of humanity with same zeal and determination. This is a noble act and those who have gifted cornea will get reward in the life hereafter.”

Talking to the blind people who got sighting ability after cornea gift, the chief minister congratulated them. He said it is the occasion of great pleasure that you people have got the ability to see and now you can see this beautiful world and your loved ones. King Edward Medical University Vice-Chancellor, special secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, CEO Punjab Investment Board and other officials were present.

departments: Shahbaz Sharif has expressed anger over delay in provision of facilities to people and reprimanded the officials concerned and said there is no justification of delay in the provision of facilities to people. 

The CM chaired a meeting on Tuesday in which progress on horticulture, construction of bus terminal shades, establishment of greenbelts and other development projects were discussed. 

He said the departments concerned should be aware of their responsibilities and produce results. He said problems will be resolved when the officials concerned discharge their duties with diligence and the departments will have to work with coordination. The CM said he will never tolerate such attitude and response in future. 

He said the Punjab government has promoted horticulture in the development projects and beautified them with flowers and plants. He said: “We have to make our cities beautiful with greenbelts, flowers, and plants. The departments concerned are responsible for the implementation of decision on fast-track for the promotion of horticulture. It is regrettable that bus shades have not been constructed on various roads of Lahore. Delay in the projects has put question mark on the performance of departments”. He said the establishment of authorities at the divisional level should be reviewed for the promotion of horticulture and provision of facilities to people.
