Foreign minister says his country will continue to support Islamabad; COAS meets Chinese minister, says Pakistan values its strong friendship with China

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi said on Friday that Pakistan’s efforts in rooting out the menace of terrorism were highly praiseworthy and expressed the resolve that China would continue to support Pakistan in this regard.

He expressed these views during his meeting with Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who called on him at the Chinese Foreign Office in Beijing.The minister expressed complete understanding of the challenges being faced by Pakistan, its geo-political relevance and contributions towards regional peace and stability, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a news release.

The Chinese minister said, “China appreciates Pakistan’s efforts to maintain good relations with its neighbours, including India and Afghanistan despite challenges.”The minister thanked Pakistan for its time-tested support to China on core issues. He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for realisation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as part of One Belt, One Road (OBOR). He reiterated full spectrum Chinese support to Pakistan.

The COAS thanked the minister and China for their acknowledgement and support. He said that Pakistan greatly valued its strong friendship with China and looked forward to carry on with the same zeal.
