KU joins UN observer mission for census

The University of Karachi has officially become part of the United Nations’ Census Observation Mission to monitor the National Census 2017 in Pakistan, a KU official said on Friday.

According to the KU public relations officer, the university has appointed Nosheen Raza, lecturer at the Department of Sociology, to work as a national observer with national and international teams.

He said the purpose of the mission was to understand the quality of the enumeration process and its alignment with international standards.

KU officials, including vice chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan and chairman sociology department Professor Dr Nabeel Ahmed Zubairi, congratulated Nosheen Raza.

The official said the KU faculty was recognised both nationally and worldwide because of their credentials and such teachers were prime asset to the varsity.
