Teacher on census duty dies in road accident

MANSEHRA: A teacher deputed at the population census duty was killed, an army man and the driver sustained injures when a jeep plunged into the ravine Khun area in the district on Thursday. The population census team was on its way to a mountainous Sathangalli area in a jeep for counting houses when the jeep fell into the ravine. A numerator, Abdul Qadir, stated to be a teacher, was killed instantly and a soldier Noorul Haq and Mohammad Farhan (driver) sustained injuries. They were taken to a hospital in Battal. According to doctors, the injured army soldier, Noorul Haq, was referred to the Combined Military Hospital in Abbottabad and driver Farhan to the Civil Hospital in Shinkiari.

 

Two suffer burn injuries in DI Khan fire

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two persons suffered burn injuries when a shop caught fire due to oil leakage near Siraj Complex on Circular Road on Thursday, official sources said. They said that Bilal and Numan suffered burn injuries when their refrigerators repairing shop caught fire due to oil leakage during welding near Siraj Complex located on the Circular Road. Other shopkeepers in the market rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan where their condition was stated to be critical.

                 

Punjab CM condoles with journalists

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief on the demise of mother of senior journalist, Imran Shaikh, and father of reporter Saima Nawaz. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved families in separate condolence messages, Shahbaz Sharif prayed may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

 

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions court on Thursday awarded five months jail term to a drug pusher. The court has also imposed Rs 10,000 fine on the convict, Tahseen alias Tahir. Badami Bagh police had arrested Tahseen and seized 350 grams of hashish from his possession.
