Says 83,000 kids liberated from child labour

According to the Educational statistics of Pakistan 2015-16 issued by Academy of Educational Planning and Management, Punjab has taken lead in education sector over all other units of Pakistan. 

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting where secretary schools briefed about educational statistics of Pakistan 2015-16 issued by Academy of Educational Planning and Management.

As indicated in the statistics, Punjab has taken lead in education sector over all other units of Pakistan. The CM while praising the entire group for magnificent execution in the field of education said the Punjab government has guaranteed provision of unavailable facilities in the schools with billions of rupees which had driven into noteworthy laud in enrolment by diminishing drop-out rates. He said the kids out of school ought to be centered more so as to acquire them schools and supported endeavours in such manner with coherence are required.

He said Punjab has opted merit policy at each level. He said 83 thousand children were liberated from child labour at brick kilns and were brought to school by providing them with stationary and escaping them from mud and dirt and today these children are not only getting their education but also monthly stipend from Punjab government.

Thomas Drew, British High Commissioner in Pakistan, calls on the CM on Thursday. Issues of mutual interest, advancement of Pak-Britain relations and collaboration in various fields were discussed. British High Commissioner while congratulating the CM for holding PSL final successfully in Punjab said credit of organising final match in peaceful environment goes to exceptional abilities of Shahbaz Sharif. Also the public has depicted disciplined attitude and enthusiasm during the match.

Marvi Memon: Benazir Income Support Programme Chairperson Marvi Memon Thursday called on CM Shahbaz Sharif and discussed ongoing projects, particularly Waseela-Taleem Programme to help low-wage families. 

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that it is the obligation of the state to provide relief to low-income families and the PML (N) government under the vibrant leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz is spending billions of rupees to enhance ways of life of low-wage families. He said Punjab Social Protection Authority has been set up to unite every single social programme under one roof which has helped adequacy of social projects and upgrading their utilities.  

e-libraries: Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government is setting up state-of-the-art e-libraries in various cities to restore dying reading culture. 

Headway on the programme of establishing e-libraries in provinces was reviewed in a meeting chaired by the CM on Thursday. Addressing the meeting, the CM said foundation of e-libraries is of imperative significance for advancement of education. Adviser Dr Umer Saif while briefing about the project shared that digital books, novels, magazines and newspapers will be available in libraries also online publications will likewise be upheld. 

condolences: Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief on the demise of mother of senior journalist, Imran Shaikh, and father of reporter Saima Nawaz.

Expressing sympathies with the bereaved families in separate condolence messages, Shahbaz Sharif prayed may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
