SC moved for treason case against Zardari, Gilani, Haqqani
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) was requested on Wednesday to issue directives to the federal government to initiate high treason proceedings under Article 6 of the Constitution against former president Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and former ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani for violating their oath.
PML-N leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah filed a petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution making federation, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior through its secretaries, former president Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and former Pak envoy to the US Husain Haqqani as respondents.
Our Lahore correspondent adds: The Supreme Court has been asked to bring former ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani back to Pakistan through Interpol and make him join Memogate proceedings. Barrister Zafarullah of Watan Party made this request through a civil miscellaneous application filed in a pending petition on the issue.
