KU confers 26 MPhil, 32 PhD degrees

The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), University of Karachi, has awarded 26 MPhil and 32 PhD degrees in various disciplines, said KU Registrar Professor Dr Nabeel Ahmed Zubairi on Monday.

At a BASR meeting held under the chairmanship of KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, the formal approval was also given in this regard.

According to him, the PhD degrees are awarded to Nighat Sarwar in mass communication, Mahmood Qureshi in pharmacognosy, Raana Mahmood in pharmacology, Mushtaq Ahmed in mathematics, Mufti Rizwan-ul-Haq in Quran and Sunnah, Asma Wazir and Khizar Abbas in pharmacognosy, Zia Ullah in chemistry, Saleha Suleman Khan in chemistry (HEJ), Ghulam Muhammad in Usool-ud-Din and Shadab Ahmed in pharmacology, Muhammad Younus in Quran and Sunnah, Rehan Ahmed Siddiqui in molecular medicine, Muhammad Farooq in applied chemistry, Subia Jamil in pharmacology, Muhammad Mukhtar Khan in economics, Habiba in food science and technology, Alia Ismat in clinical psychology, Usman Asim Madni in economics, Nayab Kanwal in chemistry (HEJ), Muhammad Tahir in law, Faheem Ahmed Siddiqui in pharmacognosy, Farkhunda Samad, Rakhshanda Erum and Shagufta Ambreen Shaikh in microbiology, Shumaila Usman in molecular medicine, Muhammad Ali, Saleem Raza and Syed Amir Hameed in international relations, Wahaj M Khan in education and Munazza Mehmood in clinical psychology.

The M Phil degrees were awarded to Shahnila Aziz in mathematics, Azfar Athar Ishaqui of pharmaceutics, Zainish M Saleem, Darakhshan Masroor of Pharmacognosy, Aatka Ali of pharmaceutics, Sana Saleem Paracha of pharmaceutical chemistry, Alay Raza of physics, Tehseen Nawaz and Mehveen Iqbal of microbiology, Mujeeba Jilani of applied chemistry, Muhammad Hassan Baloch and Karim Ahmed  of institute of space and planetary astrophysics, Rabia Dilawar of clinical psychology, Fatima Ashdar and Rasheed Khan of social work, Quratul Ain Hafeez of pharmaceutics, Sadia Khan of chemistry (HEJ), Muhammad Taimur and Manzoor Hussain Memon of applied economics, Farhan Uddin of English (linguistics), Syeda Sumayya Tariq of molecular medicine, Erum Waris of international relations, Syeda Saima Fatima of  chemistry (HEJ), Maryam Anis of pharmacognosy, Imran of chemistry (HEJ) and Narjis Fatima Rizwan of molecular medicine.
