A real estate agent and a tailor were killed in separate incidents reported in the city on Friday.

Nayyab Alam, 35, was shot dead while his wife Nabeela was injured in a gun attack in the Surjani Town police limits. As per details, the shooting took place at the victims’ house in Sector 36-B, North Karachi.

Surjani Town SHO Mulazim Hussain said police teams had rushed to the house to find the couple in critical condition. Both were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where Nayyab succumbed to his injuries, while Nabeela remains under treatment.

The cause of the murder, according to the SHO, was personal enmity. He said the attack was carried out by Nayyab’s cousin, Samiullah, over a lingering dispute. The officer said Samiullah had come over to the couple’s yesterday to resolve the matter but the two men had a heated argument that culminated with Samiullah shooting at the couple.

Thus, the SHO said, the murder was on enmity grounds. A case was reported and raids were being carried out to arrest Samiullah, he added.

In the city’s Sohrab Goth area, unidentified assailants barged into a house and shot dead a man identified as Damsaaz Ali, a tailor by profession.

The murder took place on Friday morning in a house in Sindh Society, Ayub Goth. Police said the victim’s body was taken to the ASH for a postmortem.

Officers said investigations showed the murder was over a personal enmity. The victim, it was said, owned a tailoring shop in Lasi Goth. Quoting area people, police officials said the killers had broken into Ali’s house late on Thursday night. The victim, who lived alone, was sleeping and they shot him once in the neck.  A case was reported and further investigations were underway.
