ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi police will submit its initial report about the gang reportedly involved in women trafficking; sex slavery and fake marriages before the chief justice of Pakistan who took suo motto notice on the matter.

Investigation officer Tahir Ijaz told The News they have arrested some members of the gang and are also negotiating for repatriation of Farzana. “I cannot inform you of the full details of investigations; however, all I can say is the police have made huge progress in this case. But one thing I can assume or comment is that Arshed and his wife are possibly involved in the gang as well. He (Arshed) has so much information about the activities of this gang which even we don’t have and this makes us suspicious,” commented Tahir.

High-ups in the police also believe that Arshed might also be member of the gang and that he sent his wife willingly shows that police might involve him in this case. Interestingly, the police are narrating the same what “Haji”, a gang member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, told this scribe that Arshed sold her wife willingly.

However, Haji had also claimed that the police of the respective four areas were well aware of activities of this gang. This is the only reason the gang was freely operating in these areas otherwise no one can do anything, commented Haji.

A reliable source in the police said the police have also arrested another main character of this gang “Budhi” who used to traffic girls to Afghanistan. According to the source, police would not enter her name in the case book as they are negotiating with her for the safe return of Farzana.

“If the police shows her arrest in record, the court would sent her to jail then chances of negotiation for recovery of Farzana would be reduced. This is the reason the police are not showing her arrest in record,” informed the source.
