One shot dead in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: A man was killed when gunmen fired at a house in Ghazgi area in the limits of the Khanmahi Police Station on Sunday, official sources said. Amria Bibi reported to the police that her son Shehzad was at home when Rifaq, Mushtaq, Wahab and Tahir Shah forced their entry into the house and allegedly opened fire. As a result, Shehzad was killed on the spot. Motive behind the killing was stated to be a matrimonial issue. The police registered a case and started investigation.

 

Ishtiaq Baig meets Moroccan Federation President

KARACHI: FPCCI Vice President Ishtiaq Baig met President of Moroccan Chamber and Industry Mustafa Amhal in Casablanca to discuss bilateral trade and investment between Morocco and Pakistan. The President of Moroccan Federation extended invitation to the FPCCI delegation to visit Morocco. Ambassador of Pakistan to Morocco Nadir Chaudhary, Commercial Counselor Waqar Azeem, senior officials of Pakistani Embassy and Moroccan Chambers also attended the meeting. Ishtiaq Baig also discussed the visit of FPCCI delegation to Morocco. He also discussed to organise a single country exhibition in Morocco to showcase Pakistani products.

 

Uri attack: Two arrested Pakistani

suspects declared ‘innocent’

LAHORE: Indian intelligence agencies Sunday declared the Pakistani suspects of Uri attack ‘innocent.’  The two boys Faisal Awan and Ahsan Khursheed were arrested in suspicion of the attack on Indian army base in Uri on September 18, 2016 that killed 19 soldiers. Indian media reported that both the boys have been declared innocent.  The agency has stated in its report that no evidence of the boys’ involvement in the attack has been found. The agency has suggested closing their case file.

 

No compromise on corruption: PTI leader

LAHORE: PTI leader Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that his party is the only real opposition, and any compromise on corruption is out of question.  The rulers will have to implement the promises made in elections. PTI is becoming strong with the passage of time, said the former Punjab governor in a statement issued on Sunday. He said that PTI had played its role as the opposition party and raised voice against the corruption, oppression, injustice and cruelty. He said the party would keep raising voice in the future too. He said the PTI had never raised any demand in contravention of the constitution and democracy.      

 

Two commit suicide

SIALKOT: Two people committed suicide in separate incidents here on Sunday. In the first incident, Muhammad Naseer, a father of a minor son and resident of Mohallah Mori Gate, ended his life by taking poisonous pills. The motive behind the incident is said to be that the deceased was seriously ill for a long time. In another incident, Mafia Bibi, the daughter of Liaqat Ali, ended her life by swallowing poisonous pills at Dogranwala village in the limits of Begowala police. The motive behind the incident is said to be a domestic dispute.

 

PUASA endorses VC

LAHORE: Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) has shown its concern and dismay over 'an unjustified hue and cry against a lawful decision of the vice chancellor.'  In a press release, the PUASA leadership while mentioning the appointment of the director at Punjab University Institute of Geology observed that the orders were according to the merit policy adopted by the VC. They added that PUASA fully endorsed the lawful steps taken by the VC.
