The Floral Art Society (FAS), Rawalpindi-Islamabad tries to hold its meeting at interesting venues besides the programmes that are held indoors so that the members can enjoy a sightseeing trip as well as learn new techniques in a relaxing atmosphere. For the month of February the programme was an outdoor meeting arranged at the picturesque venue of Khanpur dam, says a press release.

The meeting began with recitation from Holy Quran by Hina Kamran followed by a report by Secretary Nasreen Mazhar, highlighting last month's activities.

Two senior members of FAS Sarwat Aslam and Huma Ehsan demonstrated interesting and new techniques - one by manipulating banana leaves and another by covering aluminium wires and pipes with various materials like wool, jute, cotton wool, beads etc. The members were enthusiastic about learning these techniques and their ultimate incorporation in a floral arrangement were shown by the very talented Asma Ansari and Huma Ehsan in their beautiful floral designs.

Later a round of interesting games was arranged for the members and the winners were presented with prizes by president of FASP, Peshawar, Ms Gulandam who had joined the meeting with a few members of the KPK club. After this excitement, lunch served and included local cuisine which was delicious, specially the barbequed fish and ‘chapali kabaabs’.

Another bit of entertainment was provided by the favourite crooner of the FAS club, Naheeda Raza, who entertained the members with melodious songs, followed by a boat ride round the lake before members and their guests headed home, with everyone agreeing it was a lovely way to spend a day in spring!
