PTDC MD meets French diplomat
Rawalpindi
A message of peace may be spread among the international community regarding soft image of Pakistan. French government may review its travel advisory for French tourists to visit Pakistan.
This was stated by the Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, Ghafoor Khan during meeting with Blanc Francis, Second Consul of France. He said that Air France service may be started from Pakistan so that tourists may travel to and from Pakistan easily. Pakistan has a huge treasure of ancient civilizations like Indus Valley and Gandhara civilizations. Pakistan has three mountain ranges Karakoram, Himalayan and Hindu Kush. Out of 14 highest peaks in the world five are in Pakistan including K-2 the second highest peak in the world which is a challenge for mountaineers.
The managing director said that there is a need for aggressive advertisement for promotion of tourism in the wake of recent terrorists’ activities so that bad image about Pakistan may be proved wrong. In this connection a case is under consideration for establishment of a Special Satellite TV on which documentary films about Pakistan tourism and hospitality will be telecast. In this regard a summary has been submitted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Promotion of tourism is impossible without partnership of private and public sector. Investors from France will be attracted to invest in the field of tourism in Pakistan. Pakistan tourism literature will also be printed in French language.
Blanc Francis said that Pakistan has a number of tourism destinations and due to non publicity world do not know much about Pakistan.
With the help of Government of Pakistan, PTDC can make efforts for bringing more tourists from all over the world.
The First Consul informed that the French tourists / people are very fond mountaineering. He said I hope that with the improvement of law and order situation of the country the tourists flow to Pakistan will be increased tremendously.
During the meeting a documentary film about Pakistan tourism was shown to Second Consul. He also inspected Islamabad City Tour Bus. He appreciated the steps being taken by PTDC for promotion of tourism. The MD PTDC presented a souvenir to the Second Consul.
