Hindu yatrees arrive in Lahore
LAHORE: Over 200 Hindu yatrees from India reached Pakistan on Wednesday by special trains through Wagah Border to participate in the Maha Shivaratri festival to be held tomorrow (Friday) at Katas Raj, Chakwal.
Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq and other Board officials welcomed yatrees at the Wagah Border.
Talking to reporters, the ETPB chairman said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif always extended a hand of friendship towards India to find a peaceful solution of all issues with the neighbouring country. Only peace can help bring development across the border, he observed.
The delegation leader Shev Partaj Bajaj said they were very happy to cross over to Pakistan. “It’s a great feeling to be here in Pakistan and participating in our religious rituals”, Bajaj said, adding, they could not come to Pakistan because of strict Indian policies.
The yatrees are reaching Katas Raj, Chakwal, today (Thursday), where the main ceremony will be held on Friday (tomorrow). They would leave Pakistan on 28th of this month.
